Dear fellow PVRCers:
Saturday, August 20, RAIN OR SHINE, is the date for the 2011 annual summer
FOWLFEST. NN3W, Rich;
W3IDT, Bob; and WB4FDT, Pip, have stepped forward volunteers to assist. The
clubs thank you.
ATTENDEES, PLEASE BRING A COVERED DISH OR DESERT TO COMPLEMENT THE CLUB-PROVIDED
CHICKEN.
PLEASE SEND A NOTE VIA THE PVRC REFLECTOR WITH THE SUBJECT "PLAN TO ATTEND"
SO YOUR HAM FRIENDS KNOW YOU WILL BE GOING AND PLAN ON SEEING YOU.
Soft drinks and beer will be provided. Seating is on picnic tables this year, so
your chair is optional.
This year's event will be at the the National Park System's Carderrock Picnic
Pavilion, a great facility for cooking and eating (covered) just a stone's throw
from the American Legion Bridge off the Beltway, convenient for both MD and
VA/DC members. We want a huge turn out (100 +) to make this a popular
all-member annual summer event similar to the winter holiday party. There's
even room at Carderrock for a temporary special events station if someone wants
to set one up. (Any volunteers?)
As stated above, beer WILL be served.! Beer must be poured into and
drank from containers, so kegs of draft beer will quench your thirst.
For food and beer planning purposes, we would like to get
a straw count on attendees, so please send a note via the
Reflector with the subject "Plan to Attend" so your ham
friends know you will be going and plan on seeing you.
Please pass this note along to anyone in the Club not on the Reflector. I
request that this note be posted on the PVRC web site also.)
At the recent NW meeting, a show of hands
found 9 out of 33 attendees (plus spouse/guest) plan to attend. We would like to hear
from the other members.
We have a great facility now for Fowlfest. The clubs have invested $250 for the
park rental plus food.
Let's make this a popular yearly event. Thanks much, and CU AT FOWLFEST !
73, Jim W3NRJ (formerly W6NRJ)
