Dear fellow PVRCers:


The list below is from notes I have received previously indicating plans to attend. Adding this list to the show of 
hands at the NW meeting (some duplication?), I estimate attendance now at 45 or so plus perhaps some others from the 
DXing club I do not know about. This "rain or shine" park facility can hold 250 ! There is still time to buy chicken on 
sale for a surge of attendees ! I encourage you to call your current club member ham friends and POTENTIAL MEMBERS and 
invite them personally to the August 20 event as I have done with a potential member and his wife who live here in 
Darnestown. Then notify me of your attendee plans along with the calls and names (with guests/spouses) for the 
additional invited attendees. Lets make this an event that turns out 100 or more to enhance the "chat and chew" ham 
radio fraternal fellowship. Let's show those potential members that we are a club that has nice social events that 
includes friends
 and spouses to supplement our getting together for contests and meetings.


IMPORTANT >> Don't forget the SIDE DISH and a chair if you wish to sit out in the grassy part of the park after eating 
at a picnic table.

Soda, ice tea, and keg beer will be provided along with the chicken and all eating utensils.

Directions to Carderock Picnic Pavilion:

CARDEROCK PICNIC PAVILION - PARKING DIRECTIONS

>From I-495 in Maryland:
Take Exit 41 toward Carderock/Great Falls.
Merge onto Clara Barton Pkwy and continue 1 mile to the Carderock exit (on
right is the David Taylor Model Basin - 9500 MacArthur Blvd., West Bethesda,
MD 20817).
Take the Carderock exit and at the stop sign, turn left to cross over the
Clara Barton Phwy. Follow the road sign until you reach a second stop sign.
Turn left for parking lot "A" or turn right for parking lot "B" and the
restrooms

>From I-495 in Virginia:
Take Exit 41 (Carderock/Glen Echo) from the American Legion Bridge and at
the for, bear left toward Great Falls/Carderock.
Merge onto the Clara Barton Pkwy and continue 1 mile to the Carderock exit
(on right is the David Taylor Model Basin - 9500 MacArthur Blvd., West
Bethesda, MD 20817).
Take the Carderock exit and at the stop sign, turn left to cross over the
Clara Barton Phwy. Follow the road sign until you reach a second stop sign.
Turn left for parking lot "A" or turn right for parking lot "B" and the
restrooms.

>From Washington (Georgetown):
>From the intersection of "M" Street and Key Bridge, go west for
approximately 0.5 miles and bear left onto Canal Road.
Stay straight on Canal Road which turns into the Clara Barton Pkwy and
follow the Clara Barton Pkwy for approximately 9 miles to the Carderock exit
(on right is the David Taylor Model Basin - 9500 MacArthur Blvd., West
Bethesda, MD 20817).
Take the Carderock exit and at the stop sign, turn left to cross over the
Clara Barton Phwy. Follow the road sign until you reach a second stop sign.

Turn left for parking lot "A" or turn right for parking lot "B" and the
restrooms.

>From I-270:
Take I-270 south toward Washington.
Keep right to take I-270 Spur South toward I-270/Washington/I-495/Northern
Virginia.
I-270 Spur South becomes I-495 South/Capital Beltway.
Take Exit 41 toward Carderock/Great Falls.
Merge onto Clara Barton Pkwy and continue 1 mile to the Carderock exit (on
right is the David Taylor Model Basin - 9500 MacArthur Blvd., West Bethesda,
MD 20817).
Take the Carderock exit and at the stop sign, turn left to cross over the
Clara Barton Phwy. Follow the road sign until you reach a second stop sign.
Turn left for parking lot "A" or turn right for parking lot "B" and the
restrooms.
