Comments:

Returned home Friday evening from a full week’s businesstrip. Saturday morning had me doingerrands with the XYL. After mowing thegrass, by mid-afternoon I just could not get motivated to get started. I finally decided to give it a GO around 8pm. Then I realized that I had not installed N1MMon the new laptop. Finally got thatloaded and working after a few delays. Luckily, I had gotten the 40M dipole and PAR EF40 vertical up andconnected to the rig last weekend. Started looking for a few S&P contacts around 9pm, but was still notmentally engaged with the task. Unlikeothers, I really do like phone contests. Then I remembered the great stories of being “fresh meat” on Sundayafternoon with hundreds of contacts. So,I went to bed early with visions of some great runs on Sunday afternoon with mynewly installed KDVR3 in the K3. Madesome contacts Sunday morning while checking the band conditions. Then my son calls and invites us to take himout for lunch. So off to the local pizzaplace for lunch. Then he decides to comehome to work on his car, which means I have to help. We finish that and as I am closing the toolbox, I give it that extra authoritative slam. Unfortunately, 3 of my right hand middle finger tips had a slight delayin moving out of the lid’s path. Theresults were 3 bruised finger tips with excruciating pain (think of a sledgehammer hitting all 3 fingers at the same time; several large wrenches were attachedinside the lid). Typing on the laptopwas now out of the picture. With my “fresh meat” dreams shattered, and fingersalmost shattered, I went to the couch and watched a little TV. Aftera few hours the pain subsided and I made it back to the rig around 2100, buthad lost the spirit for tackling a run plan. Finished just doing some S&P. As much as I enjoy SS SSB, I just always seem to have bad luck thatweekend. I’ll still try again next year. I am glad that I was able to add some pointsto the club score.
