N4AF was SO-HP, K3MM was SO-Unlimited. N4AF's score (which ended up
being slightly below K3MM's) wasn't enough to make the SO-HP Top Ten
Box. Kinda tells you where the competition stacks up :-)
On CW, the top SO-U doesn't make the SO-HP Top Ten Box. On phone,
there's about a 50% overlap in Top Ten scores, but SO-HP still beats
SO-U (i.e. the top SO-U is about #6 on the SO-HP Top Ten Box). But
only two of the Top Ten SO-U would have made the SO-HP box on phone.
So, at least in SS, the packet distracted are still not truly
competitive with the SO-boy-and-his-radio contingent.
Question - will Skimmer close the gap on cw? Let's find out in
November!
