[PVRCNC] to meet or not to meet / SUMMER PICNIC?

Re Picnic: The idea is good, but for whatever reasons are out there,
despite wonderful hosting by Bruce and Laurie, great food and fun, the
turnout was, IMHO, for the past two years very disappointing, and while
"significant others" boosted the total, the actual member attendance was
less than an average monthly meeting.
I can't see anyone wanting to spend the time and effort getting their place
ready for visitors---and 5 or 6 members show up.
Would a picnic at a public venue--like a park with water activities--where
there is more than ham radio for the family but we gather as a group at a
pavilion for food and fellowship be more likely to make us want to reserve
that weekend?
Just askin'.................

The overwhelming consensus about a meeting this week/month seems to be
either ³I¹m out of town² or ³I¹m in town but let¹s not have a meeting.² So,
in the spirit of our politicians who poll their voters and then step out
front and say ³here¹s my wonderful idea,² I proclaim that the July PVRC NC
East meeting is hereby canceled.
On a more hopeful note, I propose that we replace our August meeting with
another club picnic. Bruce and Laurie have graciously hosted a couple of
terrific picnics, and now it is somebody else¹s turn. Who would like to
play host this year?
