I hope the answer to this is: "Heck no, I'm going to be on 24 hrs for SS
CW!"
But....if the Californians and AA4NC can do it on cw, why not me? Due to
unavoidable personal commitment, I won't be on for SSB SS this year. So,
I've abandoned my SOLP status for SS CW and am doing what I can for the club
with "U" and the amp turned on. Inevitably in CW, the rate drops
precipitously after the first 12 hours or so as we begin to "fish the pond
dry".
Is there anyone with a reasonably good HP contest station within easy
driving range who simply can't get on this year and would be willing to let
me come over as lead off batter, operate until early Sunday morning and then
I'll come home to put K4QPL on as "fresh meat" for the remainder? That
should give us an aggregate score considerably higher than if I am at home
for the entire time.
I'd also need to use one of the club calls floating around or yours if you
don't mind, but that's usually an easy problem to solve.
I did this on SSB a couple year ago, courtesy W0UCE, and I think I ended up
beating myself and someone else edging me out for second so I ended up first
and third in NC! I don't have such high hopes on cw, but just want to run up
the points.
If a local member who will be at the meeting Thursday can help out, we can
talk about the logistics. If there are enough assets and ops around, others
may want to play the game as well.
73,
Jim, K4QPL
