Subject: [PVRCNC] SS Tips

Hi Guys,

Following on from the meeting last night, during the next month let's pass on some simple tips that
will help us improve our performance in SS this year. They don't need to be earthshaking, and don't
worry if you think everyone already knows something you've just discovered. You might be surprised.
So I'll start with something I just learned tonight. (that probably everyone else already knows!)

I've had "busts" when I typed "O" instead of "0" or vice versa. Rounds and ovals get hard to see
after 20 hours or so of sleep deprivation. I never thought of doing anything about the default view.
Fonts with slashed zero's can be a big help. If you use N1MM, go to their web site,
http://pages.cthome.net/n1mm/ Select "other". Page down to "slashed fonts". Their instructions
aren't all that easy to follow so I just downloaded the two files to the N1MM program folder. Then
open Start/Settings/Control Panel/Fonts. (Or themes if you use the newfangled XP method) Paste the
two files into the folder. Then open N1MM, select View/Set Font and then select one of the two. I
find the "Morocco" a bit easier on the eye. And when someone gives you "Number 101"
you'll easily see if you logged it correctly. I would guess Writelog and other programs also lets
you select your fonts from the windows library.
Don't give away easy points from unnecessary typos.

73,

Jim, K4QPL
