Hmmmm... I've got a few 1/2 inch Heliax jumpers - each about 2 meters long -
with 7-16 DIN connectors. Maybe he would consider replacing his
dis-respected Universal High Frequency panel connectors (aka, SO-239's) in
his rig and amplifier? Or maybe *I* should do that...
I know the guy has been ridiculed a bit, but come on - two-foot hardline
jumpers to his amp?

Subject: [PVRC] Heliax jumpers
I've not had good luck buying jumpers at hamfests. These were a brand name.
I just assumed they were good and installed them. Repeater range dropped to
a mile or two. What I found was that 2 of the 3 jumpers were bad. The most
compelte failure was the connector had separated from the outer conductor
due to twisting. This was certainly not obvious to me when I bought them.
They looked new and unused. Testing with an ohm meter is no guarantee the
jumper is suitable for UHF operation.
