We operated "multi-one single-family." Jordan KI4GUO logged 135 Qs, Jeanne
KI4ZWQ logged 85 and I logged the remainder. This was the first contest in
which Jordan and Jeanne operated in run-mode. Jordan and Jeanne usually sat
side by side in front of the radio with one talking and one typing. Jordan
was surprisingly good at handling the pile-ups. Jeanne had a bit of "mic
fright" but Jordan coached her mother through the QSOs very well! By the
end of the evening, Jeanne had gotten much more comfortable. The only
problem with their tag-team approach was that they didn't need me and my
unsolicited advice! I was banished from "my" shack except when they needed
a break... Oh well...at least they seemed to enjoy the
experience...hopefully they'll want to participate again and stay in the
chair for a bit longer.

We had great rates on 20m and ok rates on 40m. However, we struggled to
work stations on 80m, especially on the east coast. We had some QRN and QSB
but our antenna may also have been a problem. We used a Butternut HF9V
instead of the Marconi-T. The Marconi-T seems to provide both low and high
takeoff angles so it might be a better antenna for domestic contests. I
wasn't able to do any A/B comparisons but plan to do some in the next
contest.
