RYRYRYRYRYRYRYRYRYRYRYRYRYRYRYRYRYRYRYRYRYRYRYRYRYRYRYRYRYRYRYRYR BK,
I know that many are tired and/or hung over from their WPX and Poisson
de Avril contest operations, but we encourage you to suck it up and join
us anyway for a special "digital" PVRCNC meeting. Barry, K4CZ (of
recent KI4GUO fame) will be leading us in a program on RTTY and RTTY
contesting. If you are already operating or want to know more about this
mode, this is the meeting for you. Set your marks and spaces for
Thursday, Avril 3rd at 6PM at Manchester's in north Raleigh.
Another ugly rumor has surfaced on the PVRCNC reflector that K1DG again
won the Poisson d' Avril Contest. I have it on good authority that a
"special friend" of former NY governor Elliot Spitzer was sent to visit
Doug during the contest period by his brother-in-law, so he did not
operate.
In other breaking news from the NS3T Radiosporting website:
K1AR has won the Poisson de Avril Contest over all other competition
both SO, M/S, M/2, M/M, SO+packet, SO+skimmer, and SO+random callbook
entries. John's claimed score of Infinity +1 (before log checking)
bests 2nd place finisher CT1BOH at his new SO8R station and 3rd place
finishers at M/M NQ4I who were unable to get a run established due to
constant interruptions from ARRL HQ to make sure they were not sending
self-spots on packet. Romeo Stepanenko, 3W3RR/P5 submitted a score of
Infinity + beyond, but was disqualified for operating a remote station
with multiple skimmers and it was found that he hasn't actually seen a
radio in over 15 years. Single operator RD3AF was also disqualified when
it was found that he and some 100 Hungarian SWLs were operating multiple
stations, all using the RD3A callsign.
Many perennial top scorers were absent from this years' PD'A Contest as
they couldn't break away from their "splitting of gnat hairs" regarding
contest rules on the contesting.com reflector long enough to actually
get on the air.
I hope to see you all at Thursday's meeting...
73,
Will AA4NC / W4MR
