Have you been wondering what happened at the September NC-East chapter
meeting? 10/4! Tired of the scribe procrastinating? 10-4!

Well don't forget--you can still make plans to attend the October
meeting. Find out what happens in person, first hand, at the NC East
chapter meeting on Thursday, 10/04.

W0UCE Paper Contest anticipated. Even the scribe can win, so it CAN'T
be that hard. Moaning, whining, and complaining about the results will
be ridiculed, per usual procedure.

So just follow the lines on down to the chew-n-choke and leave the CBs
in the pick'em up on 10-4 gud buddie. Sweepstakes are a comin'....

September meeting minutes follow.

PVRCNC-East Chapter - September Meeting Notes
September 6, 2007, Manchester's, Raleigh, NC, USA.

The September meeting had a baker's dozen in attendance. With K4QPL
missing in action, W4KAZ did his inept best at herding the cats.
Throwing a monkey wrench in the works right away, W4KAZ had the meeting
kick off with the W0UCE Paper Contest. With the competitive juices(i.e.,
beer) flowing and the meal being served, we then jumped directly into
member reports.

Around the Table:

K4CZ, Barry: Barry related the saga of finding a technician to add the
Inrad roofing filters, and repair, his TS-930. He's very happy to have
the radio back in the shack. Beyond that, he's been experimenting with
Anderson powerpoles as a quick disconnect for a control cable, and he's
trying to get his 80 and 160 antennas set for the coming contest season.

N4TL, Tom: Tom played a bit in the June VHF contest. He also now has
344 DXCC entities confirmed.

NX9T, Jeff: Jeffs been on vacation recently, and took a 'mini'
lightning hit--no catastrophic damages. He also received his plaque for
2006 SS Phone QRP.

K4CIA, Bill: Bills been busy checking QSL cards for everybody hand
delivering them at the meeting.

K4WES, Wes: Wes made it to DXCC on 30M--and had QSL cards for K4CIA to
check.

KE4GY, Frank: Frank had a new piece of equipment in the house, a
laptop computer that contained a chip he helped design. He's got the
laptop loaded with N1MM and other 'good stuff'. He reports that his
TS-940 has no PLL.

K9EZ, Kent: Kent has been doing a lot of work with propagation
modeling at work. He's going to be 'stuck with wires' for antennas this
season, as he's had too much work to get any antennas set up at the new QTH.

K1ZW, Larry: Larry has been chasing DX, because the heat and humidity
make it too hot for antenna work. He's still very happy with his
Steppir, and currently has an SB-220 project on the workbench that he's
'fixing up'.

AA4NC, Will: Will has been doing a lot of tower work--unfortunately
its been AT WORK, not at home.

N1LN, Bruce: Bruce has been keeping busy with the Three Tower Task.
He's been trenching, and running cables. The antennas are next. Bruce
also got a plaque in for 40 meters single band JA DX.

W0UCE, Jack: Jack let the group know that he had an Icom 756Pro III
for sale, and matching power supply. If no local takers it will be sold
on open market.

W4KAZ, Kaz: No new radio activity to report. Hit the Shelby hamfest
and saw the new Yaesu FT-950.

W4MY, Marty: Marty emphasized how !overwhelmed! he was by operating at
Howies for the IARU contest, but he enjoyed the experience very much.
He's also got an Elecraft KX1 in the shack, and is looking for excuses
to go camping just to have a chance to play with the new toy in its
natural environment.

K4HA, Bob:(via NX9T) Bob passed word through Jeff that his work
schedule and work travel make it difficult to attend the meetings, but
all is still good with Bob.

With the end of member reports, no program on tap for the evening, and a
lack of leadership skills in evidence, the meeting fell into immediate
disarray as club members knocked over chairs in their haste to reach the
door. Fortunately no members, restaurant staff, nor patrons were
trampled in the ensuing stampede.
