PVRC/NC-East Chapter - August Meeting Notes
August 2nd, 2007, Manchester's, Raleigh, NC, USA.

There were with eleven members in attendance. Because we were turned out
of the normal meeting room at the restaurant, we had a very informal
gathering. We were able to have enough tables pulled together for
everyone attending to gather around, but K4QPL chose to dispense with
the normal member reports in lieu of a night of fine dining with a good
group of contesters. The exceptions were to hear very short comments
from AA4NC and W0UCE regarding the effort put forth in IARU at AA4NC and
N4AF.

AA4NC, Will : Will reiterated much of what he had written for the
newsletter. The AA4NC operation was manned by AA4NC, NT4D, K4MA, and
KA1ARB. Will ran into problems with his 40 meter and 10 meter antennas.
The 10 meter antenna was still a puzzle, as it was showing the correct
SWR curve, but was not radiating. Adjustments were made, and Q's were
handed out as best as possible.

W0UCE, Jack : The CW operation at N4AF turned into a marathon session
for N4AF, W0UCE and W4MY, as outside events caused a last minute
shortage of operators. Even though it was exhausting, Jack found Howie's
40 meter quad to be 'amazing', and he got a chance to see the rate meter
on the high side of 270 Q's/hr.

The remainder of the meeting was given back to conversation and to
perusing through the boxes of parts the W0UCE had brought for the gather
crowd to dicker over.

K4QPL amazed the entire group by once again emerging victorious in the
W0UCE Paper Contest. K4CIA immediately demanded a recount.

73, Keith W4KAZ
