[PVRCNC] Murph comes early-anyone have a spare radio?

While setting up for SSCW the display on my Kenwood TS850 started putting on a random light show. This happened a month ago and after I replaced the backup battery it seemed OK, but I guess I hadn't left it on long enough. Today the problem returned and I can't seem to solve it. Put in another battery. No luck. Another owner found a leaky electrolytic on the display board. Sure enough, the same one was also leaking on mine. However after replacing that one and the other two as well, there's no change in the symptoms. May be some bad chips which are reported to be suspect on this vintage model. Not enough time to send it anywhere for professional help.

This is the "2R" in my SO2R (touch wood the Orion II is healthy) and I'd really like to use a second radio. If anyone has a spare, and they don't have a philosophical objection to SO2R ;-) I'd really appreciate a loaner for this weekend only. Won't need it for phone weekend--I can hardly operate one radio on SSB and certainly don't have the mental capacity for voice SO2R!

Better is better but for S&P doesn't have to be anything great. Does need to have RS232 (or adapter) computer interface and cw filters preferred. No big RF around the shack--SSCW is always SOLP for me.

Before you phone guys ask---No, loaning me your radio does not let you off putting in a score for PVRC in SS CW!

Thanks and 73,

Jim, K4QPL
