Understandably, we maybe lost some of our motivation for the unlimited club 
competition arising out of the "Great Circle" situation last year and the 
"we won it--no we didn't" experience. (Sort of like when the courts 
determine the outcome of an election).  Nevertheless, I fully support the 
decision of our trustees and know that we did the right thing.

With just a couple weeks to go before the first stage, SS CW, we have a 
unique opportunity to put all that behind us and bring home the trophy with 
no questions asked.

The year that the Midwest club won, they showed us what it takes. LOTS of 
LOGS in both modes, not just high scores and "iron-butt" dedication from a 
few. 350 cw and 500 phone qso's is a highly achievable target for even a low 
power station with modest antennas and limited time. (My first year in 
contesting after 20+ years QRT I exceeded that with a TS850 and a low G5RV)

I will GUARANTEE that if at least 50% of our members will get on the air for 
both cw and phone and hit that minimum target, plus what the hard-core 
members contribute, we'll be smiling right through 2008 with the unlimited 
club trophy on the right coast where it belongs.
