Message posted to several QRP and CW reflectors...
The results for the February NC Road Kill Round Up are in and two Speeders
tied for first place! Both N6RO and KG5U worked all 15 Kritters in 24
minutes...a very impressive performance! Third place went to W5MF who
worked all 15 Kritters in 50 minutes. N5ZC was the only other op to get a
sweep, earning 4th place with a 76 minute effort. The winning Kritter was
W0UCE, who worked 20 Speeders, including 3 stations that were running less
than 5w, which gave him the edge on points over W4ZV, who also worked 20
Speeders and earned second place.
We had a great turnout for a first time event. Based on an analysis of 13
out of 15 Kritter logs, there were 45 unique Speeder callsigns worked at
least once and 24 worked at least twice. Of the 45 Speeders who
participated, 13 submitted logs. Although 40m propagation in NC was
favoring the Southwest and West Coast, the Kritters worked Speeders located
in 15 states in all regions of the U.S. In addition, W0UCE was run down by
a DX Speeder located in Italy.
Complete results are posted on the RK RU website
(http://ncroadkillroundup.homestead.com/SpeederResults.html). Bruce N1LN
will be sending out certificates soon.
Thanks to everyone who participated. The next NC Road Kill Round Up is
expected to be held in the fall. Details will be posted on the Kontest
website and various reflectors when available. The Kontest website is
(http://ncroadkillroundup.homestead.com/). Thanks also for all the
suggestions and comments. Based on that input, the Kontest sponsors are
planning a few changes to make the next event even better...although, so
far, W0UCE has refused to add a button to the Kontest webpages that would
allow surfers to squelch the music...oh well, at least every computer has a
mute button ;-)
Hope you can catch this Kritter next time!
