Looking over the IARU scores database for 2006, I see that Nate,
operating as NR3X, did very well in the Single-op Mixed Mode, Low Power
category.
NR3X
#9 worldwide
#2 USA
He was beaten out only by K1XM, who had fewer QSO's but more mults.
My own piddly little 373 Q's(about 25 percent of Nate's Q total) would
only have been good enough for another scrap of IARU wall paper if Nate
had gone fishing instead operating.
Also, Howie, operating "NY4A" as Single Op-CW Only, High Power kicked
butt too.
NY4A
#12 Worldwide
#2 USA (outdone only by K1TO in Florida)
and also #6 USA overall(which includes both Headquarters and Multi
stations)
Coolness. Way to go gents. Go PVRC!
For folks who enjoy contesting, this is a really fun event, even
casually. It is doubly fun for us folks who enjoy mixed modes, but you
can also operate as CW or SSB only, so there really is something in it
for everyone. I actually made well over half of my QSO's on CW rather
than SSB.
If you have time and inclination, give it a shot this July. The log
database show 700+ US logs submitted versus 2800+ worldwide. Thar be DX
to be logged--when the static crashes allow!
