For rough cutting, my jigsaw with a fine blade works great!

Depends on the hardline, but just use a hacksaw or bandsaw for the end
cut.
The Andrews Easy-ax (sp?) tools work great for prep on their hardlines,
giving you just the right depth and position of cut.
The end result you are looking for is that the shield is cut along the
largest diameter/outer ridge. I think this might be difficult with a pipe
cutter. I havent bought any hardline connectors in a while, but the last
ones I got from Andrews which were "ring-flare" types included cutting
guides to use with a razorsaw or hacksaw.
Joel at RF connection thinks the current Eupen connectors are better than
the Andrews if you are installing new ones.

RE: [PVRC] How To Cut Hardline
In 1992, I bought the Andrew coax connector preparation kit
which includes a tool for cutting the weather shield,
copper outer conductor and dialectic to the precise
length to install the connector.
The tool is essentially a pipe cutter device that
makes several cuts as you turn it around the cable.
So, if you don't have an Andrew model, use a pipe cutter.
That will be your best simulation of the professional tool.
All 100+ connectors in my installation were made with the Andrew tool.
I'd highly recommend that tool too.

I have installed hardline and rigid line for broadcast operations. I
always used a pipe cutter as it gave me cleaner cuts and fewer nicks
in addition to the ability to control how deep you cut.
