Anyone care to step up and volunteer to do a program for the October
meeting? I am sure you guys and gals are tired of hearing UCE.... I will
continue the Paper Contest through the end of the year when my term as
Program Coordinator is finished. Brush up on your ham radio trivia - only
three more prizes left to win.

Program Ideas:

* Getting the most out of a SSB Contest

* Getting the most out of a CW Contest

*         Introduction to RTTY Contesting

*         Contest Operating Position Considerations

* Just how the heck do you adjust paddles and/or bugs for the right
feel

* My two best contest tips "EVERYONE SUBMIT TWO" by e-mail and I
will compile them for presentation and make handouts.

Aw come on gang. there is tons of experience and talent - step up, take a
turn at the PVRC NC EAST Presentation Podium.

73,

Jack

[PVRCNC] PVRCNC-East September Report

A couple of things have happened in the last few days to force me to

request we reconsider October as the target for the 10th anniversary

celebration. I feel bad that we got so close and with preparations going

so well (although we could use more still photos sent to K4QPL at nc.rr.com

and remembrances to W0UCE at nc.rr.com by email as mentioned below).

With K4QPL in England and my current schedules (linear equation theory

is calling to me from the dining table) I haven't been able to

communicate this properly. But I'll be consulting W0UCE and NX9T as soon

as I can and will get with Jim when he returns. My hope is that we can

get a volunteer for an alternative program for October and target

Thursday November 2 for the celebration (see my reply to NX9T's notes

below).

I guess on the bright side this would put the celebration on the other

side of the October contests, as I know folks are in the midst of

serious preparation for some of those tests and might be inconvenienced

by losing a day or more with travel to/from the meeting.

In my opinion Jack lined up some extraordinarily useful information

related to combating fatigue, and the timing couldn't be better. Perhaps

the October meeting might be best spent following up with other contest

prep material such as an update of AA4NC's excellent advice?
