Here is a tip for all those who plan to enter the PVRC EAST Paper Contest
this Thursday Evening.

Ask yourself two questions:

1. "How well do I know the rules for the contest I am about to enter?
2. "How well do I know the targets I am going to chase and work in this
contest Should I RUN or S&P ?

You have two days to dig into your ham radio reference materials and brush
up on your contesting knowledge. Who knows - YOU may be the next PVRC East
PAPER CONTEST WINNER!

73,
Jack W0UCE

Following up on Jeff's notice, I hope to see everyone at Manchester's for
our monthly meeting. We're into contest season now with the great SS warmup,

CQP (California QSO Party) on phone and cw this weekend. Lots of others
coming up as well.

In addition to the member news and paper contest, I'll be showing why I
missed the meeting last month to visit the eastern site of the first
transatlantic "DX" 105 years ago and to operate from the surviving "shack"
of another early site at Lizard Point, "LD", now permanent special events
amateur station GB2LD. Going back even further, the first transatlantic
telegraph cable came ashore at the nearby village of Porthcurno which also
features a fine museum and a reproduction radio station with a big
collection of "boat anchors." I'll hand out commemorative QSL's to some
lucky members and have some pictures and other material of historical
interest regarding the above.

Look forward to seeing you! 73,

Jim
