Comments:

Wow, what fun to hear all the PVRC'ers on the air. And to be spotted
so often by NCCC members - what a great little competition.

We got off to our best start ever though we couldn't sustain the
pace. Our raw score was down just a bit from last year, but we did
OK considering that we blew the microphone amp in the radio on
Saturday morning before the contest. I'm sorry about our horrible
audio.

My multi-op partner is Lee, WB1ADR, a member of YCCC. He wasn't as
hot as I was on our efforts to win back the gavel, as many of you
heard with his unenthusiastic (at best) "Go PVRC" when I was by his
side. But he's a great op and a great friend, so we'll cut him some
slack. He helped me finish putting up my delta loop beam for 40
meters, which played *great*. It felt like we worked every ham alive
in 8, 9, and 0-land.

Best operating of the contest was the first several of hours, where
we ran at nearly 100 Q's an hour. Worst decision of the contest was
interrupting those runs to try to establish an early foothold on 40
meters. We got nothing going until we abandoned that attempt and
escaped to 80 meters. Overall, there seemed to be *lots* of
activity, but I just didn't feel loud on any band this year. It
might have been the conditions or it might be my hearing starting to
go.

Best decision of the weekend was when we gave up our last minute
scrambling to erect another antenna so we could actually relax before
the contest. I might actually try that again for my next contest...

I'm eagerly waiting to see the cumulative club results. Wonderful
effort by everybody!

73,
    Rob
