Interesting reading the postings.
I see owning an Orion II is worth a couple hundred Q's on 80M given
K4QPL's performance. AL4T's in NC call gave my logging program fits.
It kept wanting to make it AK. Never heard N4CW though N3CW was on.
Somebody else posted that they really hated SS. I second that.
I found myself almost dozing off when sending and rxing exchanges.
Boring. SOA here to minimize the pain and maximize score for the
number of hours that can be tolerated. IC-706/SB-1000 at about 600W
to 2 el tribander, 2 el 40 and 80 dipole.

Two NT, two NL. Last mult was MO before going to bed at about 9PM. Up
at midnight for a bit then back to bed. 80M Q'S total showed the
"in-bed effect" effect. Used 15 and 20M almost exclusively early (for
mult hunting) all 6's, 7's and VE's were worked by about 7PM. SOA is
like shooting fish in a barrel. A DX'er at heart, working mults is
far more interesting than running. Last 25 QSO's were an afterthought
around noon after initially quitting by 9AM Sunday. A score of 100K
looked so much bigger than 96K.
Now that the logged area on state land surrounding us has grown up
some, I put back up my W and NW/SE rx antennas and lengthened the
short NE one. Tall weeds which have grown up plus a few interspersed
trees seem to adequately support the wires. Almost all 80M QSO's were
made using the W or NW/SE rx antennas. Helped calm the din in the
706's overload prone RX.
