Just wait until the "hard sky" comes back for 11M!
Or think about it as an amp designed for CCS (Continuous CONTESTING Service)

Talk about your basic illegal CB amplifier...
http://cgi.ebay.com/HOME-BREW-AMPLIFIER-FULL-LEGAL-LIMIT_W0QQitemZ9702949391QQcategoryZ48700QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Well designed for AM operation at an idle carrier output of 1.5 kW, or 6 kW
peak at 100% modulation. About 4 times legal limit for ham operators.
That big transformer in the RF deck is not the plate transformer (though
it's as big as the plate xfmr in my AL1200), it's the filament transformer.
Note the strap output, attached to another strap with bolts. That's the
secondary...
Can only guess what the HV transformer is in the Power supply unit.
To drive it would take something rated 100W am carrier CCS. Something like
an AL 811 H or AL 80B driven by a Johnson Ranger or Valiant.
One way to chat up chan 19.
Guy, K2AV.
