[PVRCNC] PVRC NC WEST Meeting minutes- 1/23/06

The PVRC NC West Chapter had their first meeting of 2006 at Cobalts Eats and
Drinks in Winston-Salem, NC with the following present:

Don Daza K4ZA was in the area and dropped in for a visit (which got him a
free dinner!)

Henry opened the meeting with the following announcements:
-The group's recent W4WS effort in the NAQP SSB (604/150)as a multi/2
station.  
-Discussion of recent wind damage at Robert's. A large pine tree fell on the
guy wires of the 40 Meter tower. Robert says we'll need to inspect further
on tower damage and that the 402 CD sustained a bent element, but it is
still working and usable.
-The NCQP is in a month and we'll need to get the bonus stations figured
out. Robert said he'll handle W4WS, while Austin said he'll help out where
he's needed, possibly W4NC at the club station.
- The ARRL SSB is the weekend after NCQP, and we'll run a M/S effort from
Robert's.
-Henry and Robert will be driving to Manchester, MD to man the M/M of WX3B
for the CQWW WPX SSB contest in March. Gene WB4MSG might be a third on that
trip. There was talk of activating W4WS or offering it to our of the members
for a single op effort.

Don K4ZA then gave some comments on what he's been up to lately, including
working on several towers in the area (one being a huge crank up in
Charlotte.)  

Several members commented on Don's words, then more wings were ordered and
glasses were filled. The meeting adjourned around 8:40.

The next meeting of the PVRCNC WEST will be on Monday, February 27 at 7:30PM
at Cobalts.
