Thanks for the quick meeting notes, Jeff. I have one each correction,
comment, and question.

Correction: April. I'm sure Jack and I agreed on April. And I need that
extra month! :-)
It's "software defined radio" and here's the site I've been visiting:
http://www.gnu.org/software/gnuradio/
Many of the folks involved with this are using the "USRP" (universal
software radio peripheral) as their hardware platform and I'm probably
going to get one from the next production run at the end of the month.
It looks like this:
http://comsec.com/wiki?UniversalSoftwareRadioPeripheral
We were having so much fun judging the prospects of SDR for contesting
that I didn't get the chance to say I expect to use some tuned circuits
and don't have any religious beliefs about what this stuff can and
cannot do. I just want to explore what it might do.
If anybody else in the Triangle area is interested in playing with this
with me let me know. I'm just hoping I can get by a little while without
a 'scope as this is going to blow my budget for in combination with the
station building. :-)
I've been unable to find the writeup that trashes the SDR-1000 (a
commercial product that is an implementation of SDR). I searched lots
of lists, etc. If it's implied by the October "QST" review perhaps
somebody could email that PDF to me?
Cheers,
Pete AD4L
