Fellow PVRC- NC members,
It has been suggested to me by a few fellow members that I should organize
and sponsor a QRP-CW contest similar to one that I sponsored in Texas.
Specifically, the Pesky Texan Armadillo Chase. (ref:
http://www.w5nc.org/ptac/default.htm ) I would be more than happy to do
this, but to be successful I would need 19 other cw ops to agree to
participate. Actually, 20 or 21 would be preferred to make sure we had 20
Road Kills ready to go on the evening of the event. After a few drinks at
one of the PVRC-NC monthly meetings a contest name was even suggested:
North Carolina Road Kill Roundup.
The structure would be much the same as the PTAC, 20 road kills (that would
be us) that Chasers from anywhere would try to make a QSO with. The
Chaser that was able to get a sweep in the shortest elapsed time (from first
Q to final Q of the sweep) would be the winner. The top three Chasers and
the top three Road Kills would be recognized for their achievements. The
event would last for about 2 hours perhaps from 9 pm - 11 pm local time to
allow for California time zone issues and be on a week night. All of the
details would be worked out if there is interest from the club.
As for the club, as this is a North Carolina Road Kill Roundup, I was
thinking of opening this up to the PVRC-NC West group also.
John, W0UCE, has offered his services to put together the web site that
would include to start:
> Event rules
> Names / Calls / QTHs of the Road Kills
> Final Standings of both Chasers and the Road Kills
If you believe you would be interested in participating, please send me an
email direct to: n1ln at arrl.net
thanks for your consideration -
73,
Bruce - N1LN
