Thanks for the reprint, Wes. Well, at least they only misused it once!
The 3M spread with NCCC may look like a lot, but we could certainly close
the gap. All it would take would be 2005 scores plus an additional 30
members in the entire club participating in both cw and phone and scoring
only 50k points in each. That's about 350 qso's with 70 sections. Or 660 x
76 in either phone or cw. An achievable target with a bit of effort. It's
all a matter of participation.

Jim

Thanks for pointing that out that the scores are ready, Jim.
Here is part of the article from ARRL's web site on the unlimited clubs.
There is a typo in our acronym of the club (in the 2nd paragrah). :-( I
wouldn't be surprised if one of the other two major unlimited clubs was
behind it! ;-)
Affiliated Club Competition
The ARRL Affiliated Club Competition for November Sweepstakes always seems
to be a tough battle, especially in the Unlimited Category where three
perennial powers try to stake their claim as keepers of the dynastic
tradition. Befitting the great battles of any great rivalry -- Duke / North
Carolina, Boston / New York, San Francisco / Los Angeles -- the Northern
California Contest Club, the Potomac Valley Radio Club and the Society of
Midwest Contesters continue to wage war for the coveted gavel.
In the late 1990s the PRVC reigned supreme, winning in 1997 and 98 before
the NCCC wrested control of the top spot for the 1999 season. While NCCC and
PVRC were developing their talent and strategies to battle it out in 2000,
the SMC surprised everyone by making a concerted effort to jump from the
Medium to Unlimited category and gained control of the gavel for a
three-year stretch 2000-2002. And as befits any struggle to remain a dynasty
the PVRC and NCCC refocused their efforts, with the NCCC claiming the gavel
again in 2003, 2004 and now 2005, with PVRC close on their heels, dropping
the SMC into the third slot. Maybe all three qualify as dynasties.
Congratulations to all involved in this heated rivalry for dominance.

The web reports on phone SS are out now. I encourage you to have a look and
sort by section, club, etc. Congratulations and thanks to all NC PVRC'ers
for a great turnout and club support for SS, both cw and phone. We put up
some good scores and moved up in the standings passing the Midwest
Contesters. Next year NCCC!
Don't forget the club 5M award. Several made progress toward their initial
plaque or the next endorsement. Good luck on that as well.
Hope to see as many as possible at the Raleigh hamfest this weekend. Wear
your badges. PVRC gathering at the PVRC table around 11. Bring your stuff
and support the club tables. Remember for more info on that contact Bert,
