Hello PVRC¹ers,
Tonight is our first SS CW Practice. I think a reasonable plan is for us to
work each other from 10:00-10:30 PM (0200-0230 UTC Friday) on 80 M, 40 M,
and 20 M. Up 47 kc from the bottom of the band, in standard PVRC style
(3.547, 7.047, 14.047). Standard SS format (his call, number, prec., your
call, check, section). WE WILL ALLOW DUPES!!!! Please try to have at least
ONE unique QSO between dupes! But lets try to keep things moving and fun,
there really is no ³winning² in the pile-up here. If you send QRS, lets try
to reply in kind. Let's keep the <25 wpm guys happy too!!
After our practice, there is a nationwide practice sponsored by NCCC that
centers 40 kc from the bottom of the band. They allow one dupe per band in
their mini ³contest². There is lots of activity in this one, see an
announcement on CQ-Contest from N6RO.
This practice is a great opportunity to check out your rigs/amps/antennas
and, most importantly, your COMPUTER!!! How many times have you run into
troubles at the START of a real contest because something is not set up
correctly? Here¹s our chance to fix that. I like N1MM and it is free. If
anyone wants to download it, I will be happy to walk you through ALL you
need to do to get N1MM logging and even keying your rig for you. It is
easy. After years of pencil and paper I switched, and it makes it really
really fun.
See you tonight, and feel free to email me with questions/suggestions, etc.
We have commitments from many PVRCers for tonight, it will be fun. Prob.
Start on 20, then 40, then 880.
See ya, and PLEASE, if you haven¹t tried CW SS in a while join the fun and
help our club.
Go PVRC!
