Be part of it.
Mark your calendars.
Wednesday, October 26, at 9:30 p.m.

*What IS a MOTA?? Hint: It's sort of like GOTA, but not restricted to Field
Day.

The first inaugural PVRCNC-East "Meeting On The Air" will be launched on
28.450Mhz SSB next Wednesday evening at 9:30 p.m. ( If there's ever been one
before it was pre-1997)

After a very successful 10M test last night in which Jeff, NX9T in Wake
Forest and Wes, K4WES in Pittsboro, and a couple others in between were Q5
and easy copy, it was decided to give it a go as a club function.

Well, there was one glitch when Jack, W0UCE, learned to his dismay that a
Yaesu mike won't do anything when plugged into an Icom radio. So Jack
soldiered on in CW to SSB cross mode and promised to find the original
shipping carton and the never-unpacked microphone for his ICOM ProIII. It
will be a doubly historic event both for the meeting and to hear Jack on
SSB! Now that's dedication to the club.

This is not going to be a structured net format. There will probably be a
couple of announcements, but the idea is to make it a "3830" type gathering
when anybody can talk about just about anything, and will only last as long
as everyone is talking. With SS and WW coming up, hopefully there will be a
lot of contesting talk, but we'd like to follow the Outback slogan, "No
Rules, Just Right." And visitors will of course be welcome. If you have
friends on the repeaters who might have some interest in contesting, tell
them about it as well.

There's not even a schedule for another MOTA. Let's hear what everyone has
to say and if there is to be another one, that will evolve on the air. If
no one shows up, then I guess the idea is DOA.

Be there. Let's put the "radio" back into ham radio. 28.450 at 9:30 next
Wednesday.

73,

Jim, K4QPL

P.S. If you're out of the coverage area, let me know if you would like to
participate. If sufficient interest we might try 75 sometime.
