Single-band DXCC in a few hours one weekend!
Firsts: N1MM Logger
Assisted
Single Band
Had Thanksgiving family commitments but wanted to play when I could so
figured one band would make it easier. Also wanted to learn about MM since
Tree appears to have jilted us TR-Log lovers.
But Wow! The new girl is great. I'm still down on the learning curve and so
is my computer, but this MM thing has great possibilities. I still say
assisted is like shooting fish in a barrel, and MM even aims the gun for me!
The bandmap, packet linking and dupe checking is really phenomenal for S&P.
A few mistakes when I busted a call or two on some spots. The good guys just
posted a second spot to correct. (Thanks, 'LPL). Others burst out in flames
and exclamation points. Not sure of packet etiquette but to me that seems
unnecessary and could discourage other less thick-skinned newcomers.
Had trouble with program cw "stuttering" so gave up and used a separate
keyer. That discouraged me trying to run this time. Will get it fixed I'm
sure. Now I need to do some computer upgrades and make some wiring changes
in my TR-based SO2R box and learn how to do SO2R with MM.
Heard a lot of PVRC calls on the band which is always great.
73,
Jim, K4QPL
