It sure is great to see everyone voicing their opinion on this
subject. It's obvious that one location will not satisfy
everyone and a compromise will be needed.
I think the Golden Corral is an acceptable place to meet 90% of the
time. Even if the manager does not grant us exclusive use of the
room. Its big enough to share with other customers. The food is much
better then the place we use to meet at across the street. My biggest
problem there is the table arrangement. We have some people sitting back
to back.
The original discussion was to find an occasional alternate place to
meet that may bring some people out of the wood work.
All of Guy's list of 8 items are not needed for an occasional
meeting place. But we don't want to pay for a separate room,
if they have one. Most places do not and we can just pull
tables together. I go to two other Ham Radio meetings
each month and that's what we do. When is the last time we
had a power point presentation? Never as far as I can remember.
On the subject of presentations, It would like it if long
Contesting and Antenna discussions were held at the end of
the meeting, after we go around the room. Then the people
who are interested can listen and the people who are not, can leave.
I am not a big time contester and come to the meeting to get to
know other HF operators in the area and visit with friends.
Friday my wife and I are going to check out the Don Murray
BBQ Buffet on Capital.
