Hi Jim, How about making your FD setup a PVRC meeting as we have done at the
Raleigh hamfest? I will stop by and hopefully bring W4ROT along. Terry has
been playing in the RTTY and SSB contests for a couple of years now. But,
the thought of traveling to Cary after a hard day's work is not exactly
appealing to him either.

Subject: [PVRCNC] July Meeting
This weekend, as every ham knows who's ever held a key or mike, or maybe
thought about doing so, is ARRL Field Day.
This is not a "contest" but an "operating event" so there is no official
PVRC recognition. But I can tell you, there are a lot of grudge matches out
there for qso's, most transmitters, band totals, etc. This is also visible
ham radio, when the public can see what these weird guys do for the rest of
the year. And from personal experience, it gets inactive hams back on the
air.
Don't let mid-90's forecasts deter you. Find a club, find a couple other
guys, or even crank up your home generator, but get on the air!
And now for the real deal.....Make sure someone gets a digital photo or two,
in whatever embarrassing poses you prefer, and email it to me. I'm trying to
put together a slide show for the July meeting. We'll have our own brand of
awards by popular vote. You don't have to be present to win, although it
will be more fun if you are. PVRCNC-West entries welcome.
73,
Jim, K4QPL
