I have personally visited one of the Progress Energy BPL test sights in
southern Wake county. I can assure you that this technology IS causing significant
interference on our precious HF bands. During my visit last Saturday
morning(during the time you would be trying to run EU) both 10m and 12m bands were
completely!!! filled with QRN in the S7-9 signal strength range. Interference
from the single identified BPL "transmitting" device was causing QRN for
approximately 1/2 to 1 mile away.

My observation was limited to about 30 minutes but there was no question in
my mind as we drove away(K4HA, K4NYS, N4XD and myself NX9T) that this is a very
real threat to ham radio as we know it.

I offer this information in case you are wondering about a question to ask
the FCC Chairman who will be visiting Raleigh tomorrow(Friday) as mentioned in
AD4L's earlier email. You can email your questions to the address mentioned
in Pete's message, which is: [email protected]

73 and GL this weekend to all who will be out play'n.

Jeff NX9T
