[PVRCNC] Modem query

Guys,

A bit off topic.

I'm curious. I'm looking for a PCI modem that has its own onboard
hardware and not utilize lots of CPU cycles to do perform its magic.
Personally, I'm really turned off by the thought of using one of those
HCF(?? whatever) modems which are one chip interfaces and everything
else in software.

Searching the internet has turned out to be a nightmare for technical
info -- unless one already knows manufacturer/model numbers. Lots of
hype but little meat.

There was one report of a Creative Modem blaster using upwards of 12%
of a 2GHZ machine CPU cycles.

The reason to consider a PCI modem rather than an external one is that
I could stick it at COM5 or above and still have four com ports for
rig control et al.

Any suggestions? No V92 out here so that is unimportant.
