Guys,
I recently upgraded the GPS for my laptop (smaller, lower power,
faster lock, 1000 knot upper speed). Kind of hooked of moving map
displays. XYL and I have explored lots of dirt roads...
The GPS I have for sale is an EarthMate by DeLorme. It fits on the
dash and is about 3/4" x3" x4". It runs on 4 AAA penlight batteries
and hooks to a com port.
Now for the bad news. You have to inteface it with Delorme Software
(Street Atlas, Topo etc). It is non-NEMA in that the output string of
data is non-standard. I understand it can work with some PDA's. I've
seen PDA software for it in Staples. You can probably scout up the
software for under $75. Their PC software even talks to give you next
turn data and other stuff.
