Next year they are coming out with a $10 HD to house this.... Just
kidding.

Isn't this close to the projected size of "Logbook of the World?"

One of the claimants to the title of the world's largest database sits
on the edge of the Stanford U campus.  Housing records of the millions
upon millions of elementary particle interactions that occur in the
accelerator ... the BaBar database... contains more than 680 terabyts
of information.

Some more interesting info. The database has been preshrunk by a
factor exceeding 1 million by preprocessing of data from detectors. 
The data rate is thus reduced to a gigabyte every few minutes of
accelerator runtime.

Data is acquired in trillionths of a second bursts....

The database is too large to process by a single computer. 
Distributed processing, like done for project SETI, has to be applied.
