Sure I'd like meetings to be held in Henderson. It would be attended
by perhaps three people. (Bad choice for another reason. You won't
find a restaurant which has any decent food. Where else would they
demolish a McDonalds and build another on the same site?) A Burlington
meeting might do a bit better-- but you won't see me there.
The desire to include as many people as possible by large geographical
boundaries runs smack against trying to find a place convenient to
all.
I do understand you working guys not wanting to travel large distances
after a hard day's work.
Do other chapters run into this? How have they resolved this?
Keep in mind one does not have to attend two meetings/year anymore (at
least in the eyes of the ARRL) to be a "member in good standing". The
two meeting rule is now obsolete and should be deleted from club
bylaws (if they exist) and people's thinking. It doesn't even appear
necessary that we hold any meetings.
Perhaps reverting to a paper only club would be a solution. Two
bashes per year located in rolling locations might be enough to
satisfy all.
