[PVRCNC] Meeting location change?

Is well and good to suggest a change of venue. But it's fairly
ineffective without a proper space for a dinner meeting. These are our
needs, not every place qualifies:

1. Once a month, first Thursdays, reserveable well in advance, not
subject to cancellation by owners who want to seat a bigger party some
month.

2. No cash deposit required. No minimums. There is no one in the
chapter who can swing this if a meeting comes up light.

3. Separate checks or separate pay is standard. Pay coming in
cafeteria style is ideal because the meeting does not get interrupted
by ante up time.

4. Separate room or section. Can seat a usual attendance anywhere from
15-25, occasionally more, in such a manner that we can all hear each
other. No pressure to get our group out so they can recycle the tables
for more customers that night.

5. Cuisine on the inexpensive side. One high end dinner a year is OK
for most, every month high end takes out folks, including me.

6. Cuisine is general and varied selection. Psing Tsu's Hot Rocket
Szechuan Palace probably won't do.

7. Easy to get to off the big roads (as in interstate, beltline, etc.)

8. The owner/boss wants this kind of business, and works to attract
it.

If you look at the list above, you can see why a place like Ryan's
fills the bill. It's likely that a replacement will have a lot in
common with Ryan's.

Not saying that Ryan's is the only place and we can't do it elsewhere,
just doesn't do any good to wish unless you can come up with a place
that meets the above.

You know a place like that, take a copy of this post and go visit the
place first and case it out with 1-7 in mind. Don't depend on your
memory. You were likely there with your wife and kids and not thinking
of 1-7 above. Take your memory of the Ryan's meeting and see if it
fits in that setting.

If that checks out, then talk to the boss/owner and see if they are
interested. If they sound like they really don't have time to talk,
then they don't want our kind of business. Don't talk to the floor guy
at night. Call the owner/boss during the day. The boss makes policy.
The floor guy does not.

No point in your proposing a place unless you have done the foot work.

The first time I organized the awards banquet, I visited nine
restaurants, and had to barter with several before dropping them from
consideration. This is very hard work that consumes a lot of time if
it's dumped on one person.

As to Triad gang, this is an ongoing discussion. If you know a place
like the above lemme know.

73, Guy.
