Have a dream for a mountain top QTH complete with tower, building and
generator?

Speaking of towers and sites for towers, Bob Bruninga, WB4APR, passed
this along on the TAPR APRSSIG the other day. It's so good that I have
to pass it along to you. "If you have $20,000-plus to burn, you might
just want to check on the hundreds of complete hilltop surplus
microwave tower sites that are for sale!" Bruninga said. "Seems that
with all the fiber these days, American Tower is sitting on hundreds
of acres of old mountaintop microwave sites (complete with tower,
generator, and the building!). One ham just bought a whole site,
building, tower and 60-kW generator for $20K!" 

Go to the American Tower Corp. Web site, click on the "Tower Sites For
Sale" link and you can download a list of the sites that are for sale.
It turns out that the microwave tower site about a mile from my house
is on the list. Anybody have $20,000 to spare?

By the way, I contacted American Tower to inquire about their asking
price for the site that I am now drooling over. "There is no asking
price," I was told. "Interested parties are encouraged to submit their
best all-cash offer, which we will then review."

I downloaded the EXCEL list.  There are three sites within NC, Monroe,
WARRENTON, and West End.
