[PVRCNC] More bad SS statistics

Hi guys,

It's been too many years since I took statistics, so any analysis or
conclusions I draw would be pretty meaningless. I will tell you that I
operated in U class for one reason - to relieve the Sunday boredom! A few
times, "new meat" shows up on packet and is easy to get where you may not
have gotten them if you were just running, since they just get on and run for
a short period themselves. The real question is if I had continued running,
would I have worked another station that I somehow missed while calling the
packet spot? I dunno...
I really think that I would have gotten the sweep anyway. I consciously
stayed away from the early/huge VY1JA piles because I figured I'd get him
later when I didn't have to waste as much time calling. He was easy to spot,
with or without packet. After working him Sunday afternoon, I needed KL7 and
NL. I worked both from packet spots, however I got called by 3 more KL7s and
2 more NLs near the end of the contest, so I think I could have gotten 79
mults without ever doing any S&P or working packet spots. VY1JA is known to
S&P for familiar calls also, so he may have even called me, who knows.

I think that when the discussion goes to more casual ops who are putting in a
few hours for the club, packet definitely helps their total score. For that
reason, it should be encouraged (or not blatantly discouraged) for the
benefit of the club competition.

Now if we could get about 100 more guys to operate, we may be able to compete
with SMC...
