For what its worth...

I found the ultimate "amp cooler" at the Frostfest in Va. It consists
of a 3x3 array of 6" muffin fans. The price $10. No, I'm not getting
an new amp. I use these fans to boost the airflow in my crawlspace.
They are quiet and a 3 in a row configuration fit nicely in a vent
space.

Notes from March 2002 CQ

"New 241 and 322 GHz NA Records Set"
This column header in bold print contained the "astounding"
announcements that two way QSO's on 322GHz of 0.05Km and 241GHz of 1.1
Km were completed. Heck, N4AF can spit that far from his towers.

CO2KK's column on antennas contains the following revelation in bold
print
Tilt Your Wire Yagi to Bring in More DX
.. Of course, assuming you want to maximize your DX contacts, then
instead of installing your antenna horizontally, tilt it to and angle
of between 15 and 30 degrees. This tilt will increase chances of
working DX stations at different distances, as the antenna will
provide different take-off angles.

Never mind that physics says that all this will do is raise the
radiation angle and make it more difficult to work DX. The
interesting thing is that pointing it up or down has exactly the same
effect due to the image antenna formed by ground reflection. How many
tilted antennas do you see at the MM's?

Then there was the discussion and text of the FCC's statement about
preempting local CC&R's to permit ham antennas. It seems that we
should all resort to using "someone else's station", club stations or
mobile stations if we have CC&R problems. I'd like to see the first
four square antenna design using four cars. Perhaps turning all our
available yard space into parking spaces for cars would be more
acceptable to homeowner associations.
