I am a blind ham. Recently, a project was initiated to get blind hams access to PSK31 by making DigiPan "accessible." Blind people use "screen readers" to operate their PC's; and "accessible" refers to how well an application works with a screen reader. One of DigiPan's features (under Options) is "Arrow for Seek." Together with my sighted Elmer, we noticed that sometimes it worked, and sometimes it does not. From what we could tell, it may have something to do with the strength of a particular signal. That is, we seemingly could arrow left / right to signals on the Waterfall if they were strong, but not if they were weak; or so it seemed. Is this correct? Can you explain more fully what is known about this feature? 73, Richard KK6MRH From pogletree at comcast.net Thu Jan 12 11:28:19 2017 From: pogletree at comcast.net (Perry Ogletree) Date: Thu, 12 Jan 2017 10:28:19 -0600 Subject: [Psk31] Some Help, Please, for Blind Hams Getting Into PSK31 With DigiPan In-Reply-To: <001401d26ce4$1e882d70$5b988850$@com> References: <001401d26ce4$1e882d70$5b988850$@com> Message-ID: <007901d26cf0$e2c81540$a8583fc0$@comcast.net> Richard, It is my understanding that this group was for general PSK31 content and not for a specific software package. Many PSK31 operators use other software like Fldigi, Ham Radio Deluxe/DM-780, etc. A quick Google search for "DigiPan support" did not find a specific group or forum for software support but I suggest you try contacting the author(s) directly if this very low traffic group does not help. Thanks for your reply. Yes, indeed, I am having trouble finding groups of users specifically of DigiPan. There is a DigiPan Yahoo group, but its traffic seems low too. So, I thought I would try here. I will continue to search, but I hope it is OK for me to post here should some members respond. BTW, there is a specific reason why DigiPan, and not a program like FLDigi, is being used for the blind; and that reason relates in a technical way to the application's suitability for use with screen readers. 73, Richard KK6MRH -----Original Message----- From: Psk31 [mailto:psk31-bounces at mailman.qth.net] On Behalf Of Perry Ogletree Sent: Thursday, January 12, 2017 8:28 AM To: 'Discussion of Psk31' Subject: Re: [Psk31] Some Help, Please, for Blind Hams Getting Into PSK31 With DigiPan Richard, It is my understanding that this group was for general PSK31 content and not for a specific software package.
