I have just acquired a Kenwood TS 2000 transceiver and a Signalink interface and the problem is that I am intimidated by the TS 2000 and digital operation. If anyone has this set up, I would appreciate some tutoring on using the combination. I am older than the digital age by a long shot and that doesn't make the project any easier. Any suggestions will be appreciated. 73, John, K5PGW From pogletree at comcast.net Tue Feb 17 19:10:06 2015 From: pogletree at comcast.net (Perry Ogletree) Date: Tue, 17 Feb 2015 18:10:06 -0600 Subject: [Psk31] PSK31 with a Signalink and a Kenwood TS 2000 In-Reply-To: <1229504674.9736317.1424212776295.JavaMail.yahoo@mail.yahoo.com> References: <1229504674.9736317.1424212776295.JavaMail.yahoo@mail.yahoo.com> Message-ID: <008801d04b0f$40423da0$c0c6b8e0$@comcast.net> John, You are lucky to have two pieces of equipment that are actually very easy to setup. You may want to join the "KenwoodTS-2000" group in Yahoo groups for direct TS-2000 support. For the digital interface, Signalink has a good support system on their Web site. If the Signalink USB was supplied with the rig you should have the correct cable to connect to the TS-2000's ACC2 connector on the rear of the unit. There are a few menu settings that you need to confirm but they are usually the default settings. I would suggest you do a full reset of the rig to make sure it is set to the defaults. If you email me at k4pwo at comcast.net I can give you the exact menu settings you need. If you don't have a manual, download a PDF version from the Kenwood Web site. The Signalink USB has an internal jumper block that either is a pre-configured block or individual jumpers. Hopefully it is also pre-configured for the TS-2000. The third part is digital software. I suggest the free "Fldigi" suite of software. There are numerous helper programs on the Fldigi site but all you need is the basic Fldigi software. If you want full rig control you may want the paid version of Ham Radio Deluxe with its DM-780 digital software. That choice will also require you to hook up CAT (Computer Aided Transceiver) control which can be another hurdle. Again, if you send a direct e-mail I'll be glad to guide you through setup and use. Keep the drive below the point below where the ALC starts to indicate. I have good results when the power of the transceiver is about 20% of max.
