As Tom indicated the memory issue is likely the 9v Battery

Hello, the Pro-2006 and its 2004 and 2005 predecessors were great scanners
in their day: 1988-1992 or so.

However, technology advances quickly and regularly. Newer scanners have
better sensitivity, non-volatile memories, alphanumeric displays, and good
software to easily and reliably program the radios.

n addition, public safety communications, which are the greatest interests
for most scanner listeners, have moved to digital trunking, and require a
much newer scanner to monitor.

When the Pro-2004-2005-2006 radios were current, some really smart guys
developed interface circuits that connected to PCs, and allowed storing
thousands of channels in these Radio Shack scanners, and enabled computer
control of the scanners.

A web search should give you information on this topic.

If your scanner is not retaining its memory, it's likely the 9 volt memory
battery is low, or the wiring from the battery connector to the circuit
board is broken and needs repair.

Radio Shack is no longer in business, and you might have a lot of trouble
finding someone with the expertise and service manual needed to repair the
scanner.

Hope this info is useful.Tom
