[Pro2006] Opto 456 question.

John,

What software are you running for connecting with the OS456? The Lite
version doesn't support signal strength and decoding (DTMF, DCS, etc.).
Should be able to tell what version you have by connecting it up and running
the software. Or take a look at the OS456 for silk screening that
identifies the decoding section and see if its populated. Otherwise, send
me the jpg's and I'll compare them to one of my OS456's.

The G/Wiz module was a product of the developers of the BC245XLT / PRO-94 /
PRO-2052 EDACS TrunkTracking. http://gtrac.ztn.net/ It allowed a non
trunking scanner to skip the beeps and tones at the end of an EDACS
transmission. It was Terence Brennan and Sean Sullivan who I believe were
from Brevard County, Florida which had EDACS trunking for the entire county
system. Thanks to them, I could go mobile with a BC245XLT on the Space
Coast and trunk track the BCSO and various other agencies. Prior to that,
it took a computer and two scanners (one with a discriminator tap and one
that was computer controlled) to track EDACS or MOT TRS -- not real mobile.
And prior to that, G/Wiz helped to alleviate the EDACS "jingle" while
scanning through the LCN's.

Take care,
Scott

Subject: [Pro2006] Opto 456 question.

I took some pictures of my opto-equipped 2006 and wonder if someone who has
one, can volunteer to see if it's a "lite" or "full" version. I also see
there's the addition of a "G-wiz" module, that's a bit mysterious.

I know the OPTO 456 works, as I've been able to use an old PC to do some
listening in the past, via a serial cable.

Any volunteers? I'll supply a jpg or 3...

Thanks
John
