A while back I had posted to the group here that I was trying to find a tech
to incorporate some mods into a project box I had here and I have done just
that. Very impressed with the work and I have posted a page stating so and I
would like to share that with the group. If you need some work done but like
me aren't quite the expert, you could do a lot worse for sure. You can see
the page directly at:

written, and you can view the page for the pictures, etc.
Hi fellow scanner enthusiast! I would like to formally introduce an
extraordinary scanner technician. His name is Laird Free.
I want to start by saying I am NOT a technician and will never be one of
anything to speak of. I myself have tried and destroyed many a project
because of impatience and just plain old not knowing how to (and doing it
anyway).
I am an admitted PRO-2006 JUNKIE and LOVE the Bill Cheek mods as they blend
totally with the scanner. So, again me not being very good with the
soldering iron, was searching for someone who could incorporate some mods
that were done into another project for me. I had posted this at various
sites and along came Laird with numerous suggestions and also volunteered to
do these mods. The project was to incorporate some LED mods and an analog
s-meter into a Workman S-meter box (see pictures as to how well it came out)
Well, once he had it in his hands Laird offered me many options about how
the project could look (LED's, etc.) and also figured part of the circuit
wasn't even working properly. After talking with him I decided to just leave
it up to him as to how it should be done. Well Laird did above and beyond as
far as I'm concerned because the project turned out even better than what I
had expected! The wiring inside was done with enough thought so you could
open the whole box and lay it out for easy changes, repairs, or (more!)
modifications. I don't even have to say how well the outside came out, check
out the pictures, it speaks for itself!
With all this in mind, why am I writing this for Laird? Well I can tell you
this. I was raised to give credit where credit is due and in this case
CREDIT IS DUE. And -- I also will not hesitate to place my ole trusty 2006
in Laird's hands for any work that I might decide to have done.
If you decide the LED mods or S-Meter's, etc. are something you might be
interested in I would HIGHLY SUGGEST sending Laird Free an e-mail and ask
about what might be done. You will be impressed by the know how and thought
behind his work. You can e-mail Laird Free by clicking on this link . (SEE
