[Pro2006] What to do!

Hello,
Hmmm... Well your soldering problem *might* be fixed by careful
examination and touch-up soldering/re-soldering of the main board, but you
should really seek out someone who has worked with the specific model you
have, and can troubleshoot it one circuit at a time. (definitely not me -
I've done a lot of mod's, but little troubleshooting)
As far as the EL replacement with LED's - sure it can be done, but
why not replace the EL panel? They aren't *that* expensive, and if you are
not worried about keeping the same "Manufacturers replacement" panel, you
can just pick any panel that is big enough, and trim it with scissors.
That's what I did anyway, and it works fine.

Hello Laird and other fans of these great Radio Shack scanners,
1. I have a couple of Pro-2004s that don't work, and display some weird
symptoms. When he was alive, Bill Cheek emailed me that many of the
problems were related to bad soldering on the motherboard. I got the
scanners used, and it looks like someone has tried some repair or
modification of the radios.
2. I have some Pro-2006s that have the dim display problem, and need to
have the EL panel replaced. That is a lot of expense and work to do. I
don't have the time to attempt this repair myself. I was wondering if
there is a way to use a couple of LEDs to light the display.
Thanks for any advice that any of you can provide.
