My rig had the same problem, and in fact that is why I own it, Radio
Shack let me have it for half price, as is.

Mine had a bad battery connector. Cut the old one out, soldered a spare
I had laying around back in, and that fixed it.

On a different subject, I'm still trying to find out what the secondary
voltage is on the Pro 2021's power transformer. Rat Shack says the part
is no longer stocked, and I'm not going to buy service manual for it,
since it's working fine on DC.
