[Pro2006] Scanantenna

There has been a lot of discussion about the scanantenna and Radio Shack closing their version out.
I have one (not the RS) that I have not put up yet but it sure looks like there is the possibility of
failure and breakage of the antenna at the point were the elements snap out and the flat clip holds
them in place (swivel brackets)

Before I put the antenna up I was thinking of doing some preventive work on it at this point. I was
wondering if anyone has problems at this point (when you look at this point it sure looks like it 
could be a problem that could cause a break) and if anyone had any idea to strengthen this point?

I was thinking of a rubber boot around it or wire wrap or at least electrical tape to strengthen it but
if it has not been a issue maybe nothing is needed.

Your thought and experience?
