Hi Martin;

Thanks for the comment. May be I saw this post, or somebody told me about. Unfortunately the failure here was the magnet coil. I even removed a few turns where possible to see if there was some broken due to thin wire after enamel removal + soldering. But this was possible only at one coil side. The other one is too inside of the plastic form and was - apparently - healthy.

The winding seems to be in 3 "sections".

Well, I already found a local transformer factory that can rebuild that coil.

About the German language: 5 years ago I started translating E311 manual from German to English. I used an online OCR => online translators => help of some friends. I stopped at page 69 / 224.

If someone wants a copy of this "draft" I can share. May be I continue this translation, I'm retired now.

Regards;

Marcus

Hi Marcus,
in radiomuseum.org, we have several repair reports of the E311,
in one post from 2005 Eilert menke gives a description of a magnetic variometer failure, it was a poor soldering between the coil and the connection t othe receiver,
I'm sorry, alls posts are in german language...

Gentleman;

Does anybody have some pictures of the magnetvariometer used at the Raster-Oscillator? I mean the mechanic assembly.

On mine E311, the coil was open so no other alternative than repair this coil (~35g of #44 AWG = aprox 2000m of wire).

In this meantime I'm using a 220V relay coil on its place but the locking range is much sharper than normal.

I disassembled this coil 5 years ago and did not had time to finish the repair (several changes on life the last 5 years), and I forgot some mechanic details.

Any help is appreciated.
