Thank you for your answers.
I have remembered that I have hadunder the bed for many years, a Clansman VRC- 321 Selector Unit (SURF) modified for reception only. I suppose that it works in the same way, as a preselector, as the EZ100 or the EZ100's preselector would work better?

The inside construction is impressive, it must be cost an eye to the british goverment, first class material and build like a tank.

Hello,
I might help you with some information of what the EZ-100 can do.
As a consultant, I design and evaluate HF receiving installations for
professional and military users, and the features in the FZ-100 only come into play if there
are many nearby strong transmitters in adjacent frequency bands that might
overload the receiver, which the preselector helps against.
The diversity combiner helps if you have two or more similar receivers, each
with its own directional or cross-polarised antenna.
An FSK demodulator may decode old-fashioned digital emissions such as
RTTY and Twinplex.
When you have a small antenna to a single receiver in a suburban location, the features of any preselector or diversity combiner will not do anything to improve HF reception.

Hello all,
Nearly a year ago I purchased an RFT EKD514 receiver that works excellent for its age, compared with other radios that I have it is performance is still superb.
I know that exist a complementary device that helps in improving the reception in difficult situations, I live in a suburban environment, and this unit is a supplementary device for the receivers of type series EKD300, I am talking about the EZ100.
As far I know it has fitted a very precise preselector and other interesting stuff that could help in making better reception. I am mainly interested in voice modes, not digital signals, BCB an AM Dxing in tropical band so audio recovery is quite important.
My question to the group is, is really worth getting this EZ-100 or is useless? I would be interesting if somebody having it have noticed any significant difference in improving the signals.
Or it would be better tosave the money and going for a Reuter RDR52, for example.
Thanks in advance,
